Credit: Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Bronny James gave a very candid answer when asked what it was like being the son of LeBron James, an all-time great of the sport of basketball. Bronny noted that he faces a great deal of criticism about his play, and is consistently compared to LeBron whenever he takes the court (0:28 onwards).

Interviewer: "What is it like to play the game of basketball when your father is one of the all-time greats of the sport?"

Bronny: "It's tough. A lot of criticism is thrown my way. But I got to deal with it. They don't know what I've been through. I just try to make the best of my opportunities that's been given to me."

Bronny seemed to be reflecting on his life and the difficulties he has faced throughout his young basketball career. For an aspiring basketball player like Bronny, being the son of LeBron James, one of the greatest players of all time, will cause a great deal of pressure, as you will always be compared to your father no matter what you do on the court.

But Bronny was also careful to mention the incredible opportunities provided to him because of his relationship with his father. Being in such a spotlight comes with a lot of negatives, but also opens a lot of doors. And Bronny has appropriately taken advantage of the opportunities provided to him.

Bronny will be part of the 2024 NBA Draft, after a year spent at USC. James barely played during his year at USC, averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. Bronny's limited playing time was probably due to his health scare last summer, which had put serious doubts about Bronny even having a career in basketball. But he overcame that and is now looking to join the league.

Will Bronny James Be Playing With His Father Next Season?

There have been a lot of rumors about whether Bronny will be playing with his father LeBron James next season. James has spoken about his desire to play with his son before he ends his career. It was recently reported that LeBron wants to play 2 more seasons and play with his sons before he calls time on his legendary career.

On the other hand, Bronny has tried to pour water on the speculation about him playing with LeBron, stating that it was not his dream to play with his father but rather to make it to the NBA.

One veteran NBA scout stated that Bronny's ceiling in the NBA was quite low, calling him a "poor man's Davion Mitchell". However, both Bronny and LeBron seem insistent on making sure that Bronny makes it to the league and plays NBA basketball for the foreseeable future.

Bronny is expected to be a late-first-round pick at best, with most executives speculating that he will be a second-round pick. Despite the 2024 NBA draft class not being hailed as an exciting one, many NBA executives believe there are several players ahead of Bronny in the pecking order.

Will Bronny James play with his father next season? It is hard to tell, as conflicting reports have come out about whether the father-son duo will be teammates. One has to be skeptical about the rumors, but it is difficult to know what to believe about the situation.
